Week 2 - The WWW/ E Commerce

You just watched 20 to 30 minutes of one of the new shows on broadway. You have officially decided which show you are going to spend your saved up money on and you are very eager to buy the tickets as soon as possible. Wouldn't it be great if there was an option to buy the tickets right on the broadway teaser website? During this time period more and more people are using the web to purchase items and if there was an option to buy tickets right after you viewed the teaser more people would likely spend their money.

Why would they be more likely to buy the tickets if they could on the website? Well the show is fresh in their minds and all they would have to do is click on a button on the open screen in front of them. This is much easier then trying to remember to visit another website later on in the day or the week to buy tickets.

Would this even be possible? Would this broadway teaser website even have the rights to sell tickets? Well the button that they click could lead them right to telecharge or ticketmaster to purchase the tickets for that particular show they just "teased". Websites like telecharge and ticketmaster are two very known websites where web payments are constantly made. They are already established as a safe website to put your credit card into, probably because they have PCI DSS (payment card industry date security standard). PCI DSS protects the consumer by preventing credit card fraud. Because ticketmaster and telecharge are already established as top ticket buying websites, people will probably also be more likely to trust purchasing their tickets there.

I don't think you could go wrong with this idea. Watch 20 to 30 minutes of a broadway show, then comes a button that asks you if you would like to purchase tickets. You are then led straight to a safe web payment site. Easy and efficient.

  1. I think it is a great decision to offer users the ability to purchase tickets immediately after watching, as well as to utilize existing ticket sales websites. I also think the "teaser" idea will be effective in generating sales.
